Quebrantahuesos, the Spanish bone-crusher!

June 21-24 2018

The Event

Quebrantahuesos  is one of the best cycling events in Europe, the Quebrantahuesos an iconic challenge for even the most serious cyclist. Spain’s biggest and best sportive, application is normally by lottery application.

Train in Spain has worked closely with the organisers for the past nine years and, once again, has allocated places, so don’t leave it to chance, join us and experience one of the world’s greatest and most challenging sportives! Places are at a premium and with over 20,000 riders chasing one of the 9000 spots, so why not join us and get your guaranteed spot?

The Route

The ride is 200 kms in length, with 3500 metres of height gained, on closed roads. You will pass through a stunning mix of Spanish and French Pyreneen scenery as you cross from one country to the other through the awe-inspiring mountain passes used in La Vuelta and the Tour de France.

The start takes place in the Spanish town of Sabiñánigo and the route passes over the Col du Somport (1,640m), France ‘s Col du Marie Blanque (Cat 1) and Col du Portalet (Cat 1, 1,795m) before finishing back in Sabiñánigo.

Trepariscos Route

If you or someone in your party would prefer to do a shorter sportive, then Trespariscos is the answer. This is a 85 kms challenge with 970 metres of climbing and is also hugely popular with over 2000 riders taking part. Like QBH, Trespariscos starts and finishes in Sabiñanigo but follows a different route. Riders receive all the same levels of support and are able to enjoy all of the same facilities as the QBH riders (showers, food, refreshments, beer, massage etc.).

The Support

Over 1000 local volunteers helping with inscriptions, marshalling and cleaning up afterwards. Emergency helicopters and a fleet of ambulances and paramedic motorbikes are on standby to assist with any injuries.

Many motorbikes and cars patrol the route with professional mechanics on board. An unparalleled provision of food and drink stations with energy bars, cakes, bananas, dried fruit, nuts, sandwiches, sports drinks, Coca-Cola and water. Also there is a post race massage zone. Electronic chip timing ensures accurate timing.
